Day 012 - 05/28/2014 1.01 Miles - 0:09:23 - 9:21/mi My Neighborhood San Diego, Ca I’ve been living with my brother’s kidney for close to five years now. While I was still in the hospital recovering from the transplant surgery, I wrote a twenty item bucket list. One item on that list was to run a marathon. I ran my first marathon, the Seattle Marathon on the three year anniversary of the transplant. I marked the marathon off my bucket list, but I was not quite ready to move on to the next item. Somehow, I fell in love with running and completed twenty marathons the following year. This year, I am planning to run ten marathons and several half marathons. I’m not saying this to brag. I’m saying this because I am grateful to be healthy enough to even do this. I often reflect back on the day when I was told I had kidney failure. That day I thought my life was over. Today I am a 41 year old kidney transplant recipient and I am healthier today than I have been my entire life. I am grateful for my good health and I will never take it for granted. If you have not signed up to be an organ donor, please do so. By registering, you can save up to eight lives! by randyfleet
