Running Streak Challenge Day 036 - 6/22/2014 13.24 Miles Mammoth Half Marathon Mammoth Lakes, Ca The Mammoth Half Marathon is one of my favorite races. I did it last year which was the inaugural race, so I had to come back for the second annual race. This one is done by the group that also does the San Diego Half Marathon. If you complete both races in a calendar year, you receive a bonus medal. I completed the challenge last year and this year. Both races are so good, I am already registered for both races in again 2015. I drove from San Diego to Mammoth on Thursday because I wanted a couple days to acclimate to the elevation. During those two days, I did a couple short training runs, then I wandered around aimlessly with my camera. I explored Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake, and Tuolumne Meadows. It was a nice relaxing weekend. I met up with my friends Dave and Debbie at the starting line. We started the race at Horseshoe Lake which is at 9,000 ft. elevation. We finished at Downtown, Mammoth Lakes at 7,800 ft elevation. It’s a tough one for us sea level creatures, but the beauty around us more than made up for it. by randyfleet
